Emerald Isle, North Carolina
There is absolutely nothing like the beach. It is hands down my most favorite place in the world. Whether it’s blazing hot with full sun, moody and overcast, or cold and windy, the ocean is always beautiful. So, as you can imagine I loved my stay in Emerald Isle, North Carolina.

In case you are wondering, Emerald Isle is on the coast of North Carolina about half way in between Morehead City and Jacksonville. Growing up near the beach means I am not one for the usual beach type tourist activities. I am actually pretty boring. I love nothing more than drinking coffee while watching the sunrise, walking along the water, or just reading a book in the sunshine. After all of the long drives, hustling to outrun the snow, and dealing with a dramatic campground stay, I decided that relaxing by the ocean was excatly what my soul needed.
I splurged on myself and booked a stay at the Emerald Isle RV Resort. This beautiful park was right on the water and gave me ocean access and beautiful views from their boardwalk. I have a full review of the RV Resort here. As with most beach properties the sites were small, but that’s ok with me. It was the off season so there were not that many campers, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Within walking distance of the RV Park was the Emerald Isle Woods Trail which I walked several times during my stay. The trail is shaded and clearly marked. The end of the trail has a beautiful pier that takes you out over the marsh. There were several people fishing on the pier during my stay and in warmer weather it would be a great place to kayak and paddleboard.
I also took some time to drive into Jacksonville and visit the Camp LeJeune Memorial Gardens. I am officially a Marine Corps Mom so I felt like it was my duty. There were several beautiful memorials to Veterans of the Vietnam War, The Montford Point Marines, The Beirut Memorial, and others. If you would like more information on these Memorials, the links above will take you to the Official Camp LeJeune Website. The park was beautiful and incredibly peaceful. The walking path through the memorials connects to the LeJeune Trail which I had intended to walk. Unfortunately my dog was having none of it.
Toward the end of my stay in Emerald Isle was Thanksgiving Day. This year dinner was a little different, but change is part of life. I will let you know how things went next time.
Safe Travels,
Heather
