Outrunning the Snow

As I have said in previous posts, I try to limit my driving to 4-5 hours a day. Driving Lucy is much more tiring than a regular car, so to be safe I set limits. Unfortunately Mother Nature does not care about my limits, and the impending bad weather forced me to drive much longer than I would have liked. I made it from Detroit to the central east coast of Virginia in a day and a half. The drive was really pretty and other than the Washington DC traffic, not terrible.

I spent the first night in Ohio at a chilly KOA campground that offered me a beautiful foggy sunrise and my second night in a fun KOA in Virginia. I wasn’t able to stay at these campgrounds long enough to write an adequate review, but both were well kept and surrounded by beautiful nature.

My travel plan is to slowly make my way home to South Florida for Christmas and the New Years. My youngest son is most likely going to get some leave from the Marine Corps for the holidays which is unexpected and exciting. I will have a few days of all my boys together at one time which makes my momma heart very excited.

My first stop on my way south is the beautiful Emerald Isle in North Carolina. I am a beach lover at heart and will take any chance I have to get my feet in the sand. I found a beautiful RV park on the water and plan to splurge on a spot there for the week. I will be there over the Thanksgiving holiday and figure if I can’t be with family I will spoil myself a little.

I can’t wait to share the beauty of this area with you next time.
Heather
