Doe River Landing

During my travels from Ohio to North Carolina, I booked a last minute stay at an incredible little campground named Doe River Landing. This magical little spot is located in Roan Mountain, Tennessee and is owned/operated by Craig and Tracey Blake. The below review is based on my standard categories and review scale with 1 Lucy 🚐 being the lowest score and 5 Lucys 🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐 being the highest.

General Information

Name: Doe River Landing

Address: 155 Bob Ray Road Roan Mountain, Tennessee 37687

Website: https://doeriverlanding.com/

Sites Available: Doe River Landing has 5 Riverside RV Sites, 1 Riverside RV Rental, and 5 cabins. The RV sites have water and 20, 30, and 50 amp hookups.

1. Outdoor Amenities/Activities: As a van girlie the outdoor space and amenities at Doe River Landing were excellent. I was only there an overnight during long distance drive, but I thoroughly enjoyed all the outdoor activities. The sites are spacious and surrounded by trees giving you privacy from your neighbors. Each site backs up to a bubbling creek that sounds better than my sound machine. The campground has several areas with Adirondak chairs overlooking the water and a fire pit, a short hiking trail to a waterfall, a fishing hole, and an excellent playground with obstacle course.

Beautiful stream that runs behind the sites with a hiking trail, swimming hole, and fishing hole.

2. Bathrooms: As there are only 5 RV spots the bathroom facility is small, but the space was spacious and clean. The campgroud is one large circle that faces the center area which house the bathroom making it a short walk from all the sites.

3. Location: As a newby driver of a large vehicle I visited this campground during my first week of van life. So, please know that I was pretty apprehensive about driving and that may have impacted my review in this section. Getting to the campground was a little tenuous as it is located on some stepping winding roads. Once you make the turn off onto the campground road, please be sure to turn into the second campground driveway. There is a small tent camping site nextdoor that I mistakenly pulled into and backing out was tough. Thank heavens for back-up cameras. While the campground is centrally located to lots of outdoor adventure, getting to these places requires negotiating some

4. Community/Comfort: One of the owners of Doe River Landing was there upon arrival and she was so welcoming. This campground is clearly a labor of love for the family that owns it. I felt very comfortable, safe, and welcome on their beautiful property. While there were not many other fellow travelers there during my stay, the people I did meet were very kind.

5. Everything Else: Doe River Landing has an exceptional website with photos of all the campground amenities and a great activities section with a variety of hikes, festivals, and attractions. There is even a section of activities listed by distance from the campground.

5 Lucys for for Extras 🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐

Overall I would rate Doe River Landing as 5 Lucys 🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐. I have recommend this site to friends and family and plan to return myself in the future.

Happy Travels,

Heather and Lucy
