Edisto Island State Park Campground
Edisto Beach State Park Campground is an absolute hidden gem on South Carolinaβs east coast. The campground at this beachfront state park is shaded, spacious, and surrounded by low country beauty. The below review is based on my standard categories and review scale with 1 Lucy π being the lowest score and 5 Lucys πππππ being the highest.
General Information and Contact Information
Name: Edisto Beach State Park Campground
Address: 8377 State Cabin Road Edisto Island, SC 29438
Website: Edisto Beach Campground
Sites Available: The Edisto Beach State Park Campground has 112 standard camping sites with electric and water and 5 rustic tent sites. The campsites are set out between 2 distinct sections of the park, oceanside and near the salt marsh. The oceanside spots are more expensive than those near the marsh. Your camping pass does give you access to the oceanside portion of the park. In addition to campsites there are a small number of cabins available in the park. A dump station is available in the park.

Outdoor Amenities/Activities: Edisto Beach State Park has a ton of outdoor activities available within the park. There are hiking trails through the marsh areas, miles of beach to walk, playgrounds, the normal water activities than any oceanfront area has. I enjoyed walking for miles during my stay. Edisto Island is rather secluded so if you are looking for a touristy beach town, this is not for you.

Bathrooms: The is one large bath house per section of the campground. The bathhouse is clean and spacious with multiple toilets and shower stalls. The bathrooms are a bit old but kept really clean and the water is nice and hot. On the oceanside portion of the park there are additional restrooms without showers available.

Location: Edisto Island is a secluded island off the coast of South Carolina. The closest large cities are Charleston, SC about an hour north of the island and Savannah, GA about 2 hours south of the island. Groceries and gas are available on the island, so if you are looking for some quiet beach time then Edisto is for you. I was here in November which is not prime beach vacation season, so the island may be busier during the summer.

Community/Comfort: All of the campers at the park were friendly and courteous. I felt absolutely safe as a solo traveler. The rangers were very helpful and welcoming providing me with useful tips on the best things to see. The campsites are well spaced with vegetation in between giving a feeling of privacy.

Everything Else: Wifi is not available at the campground and my Starlink had limited access due to the tree cover. I was able to park in the beachside portion of the park during the day and get signal with my Starlink to work.
