Avon by the Sea
My first camping spot when I arrived in the Outer Banks was Avon By The Sea RV Park. This beautiful Oceanfront RV Park is located off of Highway 12 in Avon, North Carolina. The below review is based on my standard categories and review scale with 1 Lucy 🚐 being the lowest score and 5 Lucys 🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐 being the highest.
General Information and Contact Information
Name: Avon by the Sea RV Park
Address: 41001 NC Hwy 12 Avon, NC 27915
Website: https://www.avonbytheseanc.com
Sites Available: Avon by the Sea RV Park has 26 sites equipped with electric (20/30/50 amp), water, and sewer. Although the sites are considered waterfront they are behind the dunes.

Outdoor Amenities/Activities: Avon by the Sea RV Park is located just behind the sand dunes on the Atlantic Ocean giving visitors prime back access. The park is also next to The Avon Pier which is a great place to walk, watch the water, or fish. Staying at the campground gives you free admission to the pier. Within walking distance are food trucks, restaurants, and souvenir shops. I was present during the off season, so the other amenities were closed for the season, but the park also has a large pool. There is so much to do right in this beautiful park.

Bathrooms: There is one large bath house located in the center of the campground. The bathhouse requires code access to ensure only campers are able to use the facilities. There are multiple showers available and the facilities are kept impeccably clean.

Location: The Avon by the Sea RV Park is within walking distance to multiple restaurants and shops and within a short drive of grocery stores. Avon by the Sea is within a short drive of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and Bodie Island Lighthouse. Larger cities with more touristy attractions like Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills.

Community/Comfort: This park was quiet and laid back. Several of the campers were talkative and friendly. Most campers were there to just enjoy the beach. The park felt very safe and welcoming to me as a solo traveler.

Everything Else: The campground offered free WiFi which worked really well. Being so close to the water was amazing. I enjoyed walking on the beach everyday, however the lack of shade makes it pretty warm during the day so be sure your camper has good A/C.

Overall I would rate Avon by the Sea RV Park as 5 Lucys 🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐. The access to the ocean and pier makes this an absolute must visit campground. But book ahead because the spots go fast.
Happy Camping!
